TEXICO MUNICIPAL SCHOOLS

Texico Municipal Schools (TMS) is comprised of 170,000 ft2 of permanent building area situated on a shared twenty-acre campus in Texico, NM. TMS was the first K-12 school district in New Mexico to complete a guaranteed energy savings performance contract (GESPC) under a renewed state program. TMS engaged Yearout Energy to develop and implement the contract to reduce their utility and operational expenditures and improve the indoor learning environment for their students and faculty.

FACILITY IMPROVEMENT MEASURES

  • Installed 1,800 LED light fixtures
  • Installed dimming, occupancy, daylight harvesting controls in classrooms
  • 60% reduction to lighting system power
  • Replaced 54 single-pane windows with double-pane, intruder resistant windows
  • Remediated 33 sq ft. of air leakage
  • Replaced 66 swamp coolers with new high-efficient DX heat pumps
  • New web-accessible HVAC Controls
  • Electrical service upgrades required to accommodate expanded HVAC system
  • Fitted HVAC equipment with air purification devices that work to mitigate pathogens and reduce COVID-19 transmission
  • Campus-wide retro-commissioning and tune-up
